Alicia Keys
Alicia J. Augello Cook (nacida el 25 de enero de 1981 en Manhattan, New York) conocida como Alicia Keys es una cantante y compositora de R&B y soul. Su madre, Terri, es ítalo-irlandesa, y su padre, Craig, es estadounidense de ascendencia jamaicana.
Vivió desde los dos años junto a su influyente madre, después de que sus padres se separaran. Alicia Keys ha vendido en todo el mundo más de 28 millones de discos y ha ganado numerosos premios, incluidos 12 Grammys, 17 Premios Billboard y 3 American Music Awards.
Clive Davis (el descubridor de Whitney Houston años atrás) la descubrió en Arista Records y lanzó el 26 de junio de 2001 Songs in A Minor con el que consiguió cinco premios Grammy; incluyendo los preciados Mejor Artista Nuevo y Canción del Año (por Fallin').
La artista neoyorquina presentó su segundo álbum, The Diary of Alicia Keys, en 2003. Se trata de un disco inspirado en la música americana de los años 70. Al año siguiente, obtuvo ocho nominaciones a los premios Grammy por su segundo disco y por la colaboración que realizó con el cantante Usher para el tema My Boo.
En octubre de 2005, Alicia Keys publicó el disco Unplugged, álbum en vivo de diversos conciertos acústicos que Alicia Keys ofreció con MTV. Este álbum le otorgó cuatro nominaciones para los premios Grammy 2006.
Su último disco, titulado As I am, fue publicado en noviembre de 2007. En su último trabajo, Alicia Keys se ha acercado más al rock y al funk que en álbumes anteriores. En 2008, grabó una canción a dúo para la película Quantum of Solace de la saga cinematográfica de James Bond.
